jackson from online announces debut album “a future that is already happening”

“a future that is already happening” the debut album from jackson from online will be coming out via Bug Body on October 19th. A limited run of 25 tapes are available to order at our store here.

“a future that is already happening” is my first project in a while to move away from a DIY rock context, and instead take influence from my recent passion for DJing drum n bass music, the vibrant seattle underground dance music scene, and my sudden adaptation to it’s online livestream platform equivalents during quarantine. it’s exciting to be making bass music on internet platforms where dance music genre distinctions are virtually meaningless, and i can explore anything from pacific northwest emo to 90’s happy hardcore in a single drum n bass tune. this record was written off the tail end of my first winter in seattle, and first season of being active in a local rave scene, and getting a taste of DJing as a live performance. i also think experiences i’ve had playing drums and touring in yufi, living with some incredible forward thinking artists, and having a lot of free time to DJ and crate dig really shapes how these tracks turned out. all of this considered, the sounds on this record are often nervous and unstable, illustrating how strange it is to be making rave music and engaging with music culture in an isolated present moment. hope to see you on the dance floor some day soon.” - jackson from online
